Followers say: Stargirl by Jerry Spinelli is your book Laura. Thanks guys!
HI I was wondering if you could help me identify a book.
I must have been about 10 or 11 when I read it, I found it in my old primary school library (although I don’t know why, it seemed a little mature for 7-11 year olds) and it BLEW MY MIND, I read it like 5 times over all the lunch periods when I was “tidying the library.”
Anyway, it’s told by this guy, and a fantastically strange girl arrives at his school, and she’s kind of shunned by everyone but he’s fascinated by her. They kind of become friends/boyfriend-and-girlfriend, and they do things like go into the desert and meditate by imagining a big eraser rubbing them out from the toes upwards, and the girl does things like leave spare change on the ground just on the off-chance of making a little kid’s day, and she brings flowers to school, and I think something about a TV interview? And at the end the shunning by everyone is too much for the guy, and he distances himself from her, and there’s a dance that he doesn’t invite her to and then she dances anyway and sort of…disappears at the end of the book. And there was something about doing a bunny dance or something, but I’m not sure haha.
It may have had a pink cover. Also, when I picked up John Green’s books later on, I was totally reminded of this book! I even thought it might be one of his, but it definitely isn’t.
