These Days is my first novel. It’s modern-day love story about a guy who designs prop computer interfaces for furniture showrooms and a girl who doesn’t have a cellphone. It’s about creative work, startups, our relationship with these glowing rectangles in our pockets, and how they affect our relationships with each other.
It came out of a journaling exercise in the summer of 2009. I found myself devoting my nights and weekends to it, and three years later, I successfully funded a Kickstarter campaign to publish it. I hired an editor, completed the final manuscript, then designed and typeset the book myself. A limited run of hardcover editions went out to Kickstarter backers in April 2013, and the paperback and e-book are now available in the US:
